A day of dogsledding 5h

Details

Immerse yourself in the world of dog sledding on this day trip, specially designed to convey the feeling of a week long musher in just one day. We start the day with a hot drink around the fire and discuss what’s ahead of us. As you get dressed, we prepare the dogs which are excited to start the tour. Once the dogs start running, they become completely silent. Choose beforehand if you’d like to sit on the guides sled to relax and take pictures during the tour, or if you’d like to be part of the action and musher a dog team yourself together with another guest. After the tour we give the dogs a snack and then we prepare a proper lunch over the fire.

Snowmobile Night Expedition

Embark on a thrilling evening snowmobile tour through the silent forestland. With the headlights cutting through the darkness, follow snowy trails over frozen meadows and through ancient pine woods. Far from the lights of civilization, the Arctic sky opens above you and if luck is on your side, the northern lights will dance overhead in shades of green and violet.

 

Your local guide leads the way, sharing stories of life in the north, reindeer tracks, and the legends tied to the aurora borealis. A warm drink is served by the fire midway through the tour.

Follow the trail of the lemmings (Lemmel in Swedish) on snowshoes and learn how to make your own coffee or tea in the snow. The professional guide will take you on a snowshoe walk through the winter kingdom of the forestland. After a walk in the snowy woods, it’s time to stop to make a fire. The guide will teach you how to make a fire in the snow and how you can cook you own coffee/tea by finding and using the clean snow. Try out the local downhill skiing together with an alpine guide. We will visit Lars Eriksson which family has lived in remote Flakaberg as Sami’s for seven generations. You will come close to his reindeers and Lars will tell you stories about his native lifestyle. Visit a reindeer herder 3h+

Details

You will meet Anna, a young Sámi woman. Brought up with reindeer herding, and still living a traditional life, Anna has a vast amount of local knowledge to share with you. In the lávvu (tent house) you will sit around the fireplace and listen to stories and joik (traditional Sami singing). You will also be served a three course meal prepared over an open fire, with locally produced ingredients. The camp is situated just outside of Jokkmokk, close to the Arctic Circle and you will have the chance to get really close to the reindeers and even feed them.

Welcome to Svartlå, only 15 minutes from Treehotel, and the Nutti family, who will give you a guided tour of the surroundings. You will be welcomed as a guest and take part in their everyday work in the forest. We wear workwear and take you along for our work in the forest, learn more about the natural environment, Sámi culture, the reindeer that we meet and what they eat. When we reach our destination, we light a fire in the forest, where we make pot-boiled coffee and serve gáhkku, soft and chewy Sámi flatbread, and dried reindeer meat. Seated by the fire, we will tell you more about our work with the reindeer, what the remainder of the year alongside the reindeer is like, and stories about Sámi culture. We promise you an authentic, personal experience, where you will get to participate in our work, and you are welcome to ask and learn.

Details

Experience Sámi culture, reindeer, reindeer herding and Sámi food. We meet up in Vaimat outside Jokkmokk, the site of our winter camp, home to the large sled-pulling reindeer which we tame and train for their upcoming work, and the small reindeer calves which need help surviving the harsh winter. We begin by greeting the reindeer, getting very close to them and feeding them. You start from the tree rooms and run on paths in the area with a professional and experienced training coach as an instructor and guide. Fill your lungs with clean forest air with only the sounds of the forest around you.


MEDITATION

With the forest surrounding you, you will learn in both theory and practice what meditation is, get to know your own energies with awareness and concentration and learn more about your breathing and how it can control and control your emotions.


YOGA
A flow of exercises for increased mobility and calming effect on body and soul. You will have the opportunity to recover, get to know your breathing and how it can be used for well-being and peace. We remove bad products from muscles, tendons, attachments and ligaments. The feeling afterwards is wonderful throughout you and a fantastic start, continuation or end to your stay here.

You can get help and advice on physical injuries and get methods and exercises that take the calm from our forests home to your everyday life. The instructor is also a licenced running coach, registered nurse and has experience of mountain marathons, mountaineering etc.
